In the last week of August, the town of Arnad celebrates the “Féhta dou lar”, a tradition that has been ongoing for nearly fifty years and attracts thousands of tourists.
The “Lard Festival”,provides the perfect opportunity to taste the famous “Valle d’Aosta Arnad DOP lard”

The festival is held in Keya in a clearing that houses small wooden chalets, decorated for the occasion with flowers and embroidered hemp cloth.

The pleasant taste of this cured meat reminds us of the herbs used in its preparation: each slice is white when cut, with a possible layer of meat and a slightly pink centre.

For some years now, tasting events have been held that allow visitors to learn more about the products and enjoy them together with others that complement them best.

Wednesday 21 August 2019

  • 7.00 pm: Opening of the 2019 edition of the festival.
    Running race.
    Opening of the restaurant service with typical dishes
  • 11.00 pm: Dancing evening with the musical group “Divina Band” (free admission)
  • Thursday 22 August 2019 *
  • 18.00: Running race (part of the road will be interrupted from 18.00 to 20.00 for the race)
  • 19.00: Opening of the restaurant service with typical dishes
  • 8.00 pm: Taste Workshop in collaboration with Slow Food
  • 11.00 pm: Dancing evening - “Midnight Express” disco (free admission)

Friday 23 August

  • 12.00: Lunch with cold dishes, polenta and sausages
  • 4.30pm: Yoga Meeting “breathing exercises and relaxation” by the Yoga Arnad Cultural Association
  • 19.00: Opening of the restaurant service with typical dishes
  • 8.00 pm: Taste Workshop in collaboration with Slow Food
  • 9.00 pm: Theatrical performance with the “Compagnì dou Beufet” (free admission)
  • 10.00 pm: Dancing evening with the “Fabio Bozzani and the Mondine” Orchestra (free admission)

Saturday 24th August

  • Restaurant service continued from 12.00 to 23.00: cuisine with typical dishes
  • 2.30pm: mountain bike race (mini biker 6-12 years)
  • 2.30pm: Palet competition (traditional local game)
  • 8.00 pm: Taste Workshop in collaboration with Slow Food
  • 8.30 pm: Preliminary selection of the “Bataille des Chèvres” at night
  • 10.00 pm: Dancing evening with the “Bagutti” Orchestra (free entry)

Sunday 25 August

  • 10.00 am: Start of the event “50th festival of Valle d’Aosta Lard d’Arnad PDO” with tasting of local products exhibited by farmers.
    Guests: “Robiola di Roccaverano DOP” from Piedmont and “Antichi Mais Piemontesi”
    Practical demonstration of old rural jobs
    Exhibition of the works carried out by the pupils of the local nursery and primary schools
  • 12.00: Lunch
  • 2.00 pm: Afternoon in joy with musical entertainment
  • 2.00 pm: Demonstration of weaving on loom with trial for children
  • 19.00: Opening of the restaurant service with typical dishes
  • 2130 hours: Dancing evening with the “Miriam” orchestra (free admission)
