Opened in 1990 in the manor’s park, the botanical garden ofSavoy Castle consists of a series of rocky beds with alpine plants, local and from other parts of the world, chosen for their particular ornamental qualities.
It is possible to admire the martagon lily (Lilium martagon), the alpenrose (Rhododendron ferrugineum), edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum), globeflower (Trollius europaeus), alpine columbine (Aquilegia alpina), arnica (Arnica montana), various evergreens (Semprevivum montanum and S. Arachnoideum), gentian (Gentiana sp.), Saxifrages (Saxifraga sp.) and fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium), very common near paths and along the banks of the Lys.
The garden is open all year long (may be visited during castle opening times), but it is better to visit it in July and August, to fully enjoy the spectacle of colours and fragrances of the flowers in bloom.
