Route
At 2,088 metres above sea level, just below the Little St Bernard Pass, lies Lake Verney, one of the most striking alpine landscapes in the Aosta Valley. Located between Becco dei Rousses and Mount Chaz Dura, this natural lake is renowned for its emerald-green waters and its surface area of more than 20 hectares.
A designated fishing reserve, Lake Verney is one of the 22 lakes that dot the high-altitude landscape of this alpine area. Surrounded by meadows, mountain peaks and sweeping views, it offers an outstanding natural environment shaped over time by glacier activity.
Several hiking routes of varying difficulty start from the lake. Among them, the trail leading to Lake Tormotta is recommended for experienced hikers who are properly trained and equipped.
For those wishing to enjoy a panoramic viewpoint, one of the most popular destinations is Lancebranlette Peak, which rises about 800 metres above the lake and can be reached in just over two hours by hikers with a good level of fitness.
