From mills to ovens, a journey through mountain flavours and traditions
In La Magdeleine, an enchanting village in the Matterhorn Valley, an entire weekend invites you to rediscover the customs, aromas and flavours of Aosta Valley tradition.
In mountain villages, the communal oven has always been an important meeting place: families take turns baking bread for their own consumption, usually once a year at the beginning of winter. This ancient tradition continues today in many villages and comes to life again during this October weekend, with a rich programme dedicated to mills and ovens.
On Sunday, do not miss the fascinating mills route: a journey that reveals how cereals are ground, leading all the way to the preparation of the bread and its baking in the village oven. It is an opportunity to discover ancient skills, listen to stories about the local area and enjoy the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread.
The experience continues at the table, with traditional dishes in which bread takes centre stage, served on Saturday evening and at Sunday lunch. Musical entertainment makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable and engaging.

- 5.30pm at the pavilion “il cibo è cultura - mangiare il territorio”, conference and Show cooking of a traditional one-pot dish, made entirely with ingredients and raw materials produced and grown within the boundaries of La Magdeleine.

- 9:00 am opening of the agricultural market, in the sports area
- From 9:30 am at the Brengon oven, bread making, taking it out of the oven and tasting of the loaves.
- 10:00 am Tour along the itinerary of the mills and visit by the guides Booking appreciated on +39 378 3030479. Meeting at the town hall. Musical tour presented by the harpist and storyteller Valerio Zanchetti
- From 10:00 am Performance through the village streets by "La Clicca" folk group
