The chestnut festival is held on the second Sunday in October - the one after the grape festival. The aim is to assess the chestnut, a typical local product.
One kind of chestnut, the “donnasc”, according to etymological interpretations of the toponymy, seems to have give rise to the name of the town itself.
At the core of the event is the competition between the chestnut roasters who compete for the castagna d’oro (the golden chestnut).

Friday, 9th October 2026
- 7:00 pm – Bavarian Dinner: gravity-dispensed beer, Bavarian culinary specialties and a lively evening with the Dolomiten Bier Band. Free admission.
Saturday, 10th October 2026
- From 5:30 pm – Concertdonnas 50 – in collaboration with the Donnas Music Band: a major concert featuring performances by the Atipic Jazz Ensemble (5:30 pm), Beck's Renon (7:30 pm), Indigo (9:30 pm), and Modern Fanfara (11:30 pm).
- From 7:00 pm – American-style dinner.
Sunday, 11th October 2026
- 10:30 am – Metabolic walk in the vineyard. Free session. An energizing walk through the autumn vineyards. Limited spots; reservation required: +39.348.3205080.
- 12:00 pm – Restaurant opens with a traditional Aosta Valley menu.
- From 2:00 pm – A fun-filled afternoon featuring roasted chestnuts prepared by the Pro Loco team and the "Mendaye" contest—a chestnut-roasting competition open to everyone (on-site registration from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm).
- 5:00 pm – Awards ceremony for the "Mendaye" contest and presentation of the "Golden Chestnut" (Castagna d'oro) award.
