The chestnut festival is held on the second Sunday in October - the one after the grape festival. The aim is to assess the chestnut, a typical local product.
One kind of chestnut, the “donnasc”, according to etymological interpretations of the toponymy, seems to have give rise to the name of the town itself.
At the core of the event is the competition between the chestnut roasters who compete for the castagna d’oro (the golden chestnut).

Venerdì 9 ottobre 2026
- Ore 19.00 - Cena bavarese: birra a caduta, specialità gastronomiche bavaresi e serata in allegria.
Sabato 10 ottobre 2026
- Ore 21.00 - Grande serata danzante.
Domenica 11 ottobre 2026
- Ore 12.00 - Apertura ristorante con menu tipico valdostano.
- Dalle ore 14.00 - Pomeriggio in allegria con distribuzione di mendaye cotte dai caldarrostai della Pro Loco e gara di mendaye, gara di cottura di caldarroste aperta a tutti (iscrizione in loco dalle 13.00 alle 13.30).
- Ore 17.00 - Premiazione della gara di mendaye con assegnazione della Castagna d'oro.
