Grigory Gluckmann. Tra luce e grazia

For the first time in Italy, a retrospective exhibition is dedicated to Grigory Gluckmann, an American painter of Belarusian origin. The exhibition presents 35 paintings that trace the career of a refined artist active between Europe and the United States, capable of combining modern painting with the great tradition of the past.

The exhibition Grigory Gluckmann. Between Light and Grace is organized into five thematic sections: Cafés and Interiors, Childhood, Dance, Echoes of the Classical, and Fragments of Life. The works guide visitors through everyday scenes, female figures, and moments of intimacy, offering a deep and human view of life and emotions.

Grigory Gluckmann was born in 1898 in Polotsk. After studying in Moscow, he lived in Berlin and in 1924 stayed in Italy, particularly in Florence. There he discovered Renaissance painting and began working on wooden panels, an ancient technique that he used throughout his career. In the same year he moved to Paris, where he came into contact with international artists and received important recognition.

During the 1930s he painted cafés, Parisian streets, ballet scenes, and female nudes. His works often depict moments of waiting and reflection, with figures portrayed in their fragility.

During the Second World War he emigrated to the United States, where he lived between New York and Los Angeles and continued to exhibit successfully. He died in 1973. His life, marked by travel and migration, is reflected in an intimate and timeless body of work that this exhibition invites visitors to rediscover.
