The MegaMuseum - Megalithic Area hosts an exhibition that explores the strategic role of Aosta in the Roman Empire, comparing it to Pompeii.

The inhabitants of Augusta Praetoria and those of Pompeii, although geographically distant, have a lifestyle and cultural attitudes that can be found in the Augustan age throughout the Roman Empire. This exhibition analyzes the relationship between two contemporary realities, intimately linked to the figure and work of the emperor Augustus.

At the center of the exhibition is the statue of Concordia Augusta, a symbol of harmony and pacification, on loan from the Archaeological Museum of Naples.
Over 300 finds - statues, frescoes, everyday tools and ritual objects - from Pompeii and Aosta but also from other areas of Italy enrich the exhibition.

The juxtaposition of the two cities highlights how the Augustan vision created cohesion between different peoples and influenced urban planning, society and culture throughout the Empire.

The exhibition is part of Aostae 2025, a series of events that celebrates the 2050th anniversary of the foundation of Augusta Praetoria.
