If its geographical location, at nearly 2,000 metres above sea level, earns it the title of the highest mountain film festival in the world, the nature of its programme and objectives, together with the Trento Film Festival, makes it Italy’s leading event entirely dedicated to mountain cinema.

Since the first edition of the Cervino CineMountain Festival in 1998, the mountains have been the true protagonists, but they also provide the opportunity to address closely related themes such as the environment, climate, adventure, sport, culture and history.

Also in this edition, held at the foot of the Matterhorn in Valtournenche, with screenings also taking place in Breuil-Cervinia, Chamois and La Magdeleine, the festival jury awards the “Oscar of Mountain Cinema” to one of the films that has won top prizes at the most important international festivals belonging to the International Alliance for Mountain Film circuit.
The selected works represent the very best of mountain film production worldwide from the last two years.

In addition, screenings of the other competing films in the various categories offer a comprehensive overview of contemporary mountain cinema, providing a unique opportunity to discover the best international productions of recent months, many of which are being presented in Italy for the first time.
