Aosta is preparing to become the capital of mountain carnivals, hosting the masks of the Aosta Valley tradition in the great afternoon event with the spectacular parade of carnival and historical groups.
The Carnevale di Montagna (Mountain Carnival ) sees all the ritual carnivals (the most famous being the Coumba Freide) and all the historical carnivals, where events or situations from the past (such as those of Verrès, Pont-Saint Martin, Nus, Quart) of Valle d'Aosta are re-enacted in the centre of Aosta in a grand carnival rite.
